If we hold somewhere in the back of our minds the idea of protecting ourselves by armaments, or the idea of protecting ourselves by force of arms in case of war, then we ourselves will impede the security of Japan. Historical Considerations of the Japanese Constitution and Article 9 Part IV offers solutions to turn the reinterpretation into a foreign policy victory for the United States. Part III focuses on Prime Minister Abe’s reinterpretation of Article 9 in the summer of 2014 and the potential negative effects it could have on American interests. 13 Part II traces the unique development of Article 9 within the Japanese constitution, serving to highlight the significant role the United States played in the promulgation process and its subsequent efforts to then overturn Article 9 in the context of the Cold War and beyond. This Note argues that the United States must take steps to prevent Japan’s reinterpretation of Article 9 from becoming a Pyrrhic victory 12 for American foreign policy in East Asia. Further, the unstable legality of Abe’s reinterpretation could ultimately lead to the revocation of the newly declared right of collective self-defense, leaving the United States exposed and unable to call upon the Japanese military support it relied upon in forming its foreign policy strategy in the region. Japan’s reinterpretation of Article 9 and the American response has exacerbated this danger of conflict. During the post-World War II (“WWII”) and Cold War periods, Japan was worried about being dragged into American conflicts, but today the inverse holds true-the United States is relatively stable in its relations with East Asia and instead stands poised to be dragged into a Japanese conflict. The geopolitical makeup of East Asia, however, has changed greatly since the days of the Cold War. It has responded to Abe’s declaration by reaffirming its support for Japan in its regional disputes and significantly increasing military assistance and cooperation with Japan. 10 Now that Abe’s reinterpretation has been accepted, the United States seems to have finally achieved this desire. government effectively ignored such rhetoric and gave the reinterpretation its blessing, 9 as it has for decades been pushing Japan to repeal Article 9 so that it could assist the United States and its allies during the Cold War. While the questionable constitutionality of Abe’s reinterpretation engendered much debate and protest in Japan and abroad, the U.S. 7 This posture changed in the summer of 2014, when Abe circumvented the constitutional amendment process and, through a controversial cabinet decision, issued a “reinterpretation” of Article 9 that allowed Japan for the first time to engage in collective self-defense and thus come to the aid of an ally under attack. 6 Yet as its name implies, Japan’s Self-Defense Force has traditionally been curtailed by Article 9 to a strictly self-defensive posture. 5 However, since its initial promulgation in 1947, the Japanese government and its judiciary have interpreted Article 9 to allow Japan the right to self-defense, and to that end the country today possesses one of the most powerful and modern militaries in the world. 4 Often referred to as the “pacifist clause,” Article 9 expressly “renounce war as a sovereign right of the nation and the threat or use of force as means of settling international disputes,” and forbids Japan from maintaining “land, sea, and air forces, as well as other war potential” for such purposes. The Shinjuku self-immolation incident was just one of the many protests against Prime Minister Abe’s efforts to “reinterpret” Article 9 of the Japanese constitution. However, the crowd soon reacted in horror as the man suddenly burst into flame. Some of the onlookers below thought he was just drunk. He then reached for the plastic bottle he had brought with him and began to douse himself with liquid. After speaking for over an hour, the protestor recited a poem by the anti-war poet Yosano Akiko and set his megaphone aside. Sitting cross-legged and brandishing a megaphone, the man began to shout protests against Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s attempt to amend Japan’s “pacifist” constitution. Hundreds of curious people stopped to peer up at him. Amidst the crowd of leisure-seekers, a lone man climbed to the top of an elevated pedestrian bridge outside one of the station’s numerous exits. 2 Throngs of people streamed in and out of the enormous station, as friends and family met in the heart of the metropolis to enjoy their day off. It was a warm Sunday afternoon in the spring of 2014, and Tokyo’s Shinjuku Station, the busiest train station in the world, was bustling as usual.

Although some quail will nest anywhere in the cage, which means comprehensive checking will be necessary, this solution will make it easier to collect the eggs. If the cages are used without wire mesh on the floor, nesting boxes can be placed inside. The sand bath and the nesting box can be attached to the outside of the cage. In addition, it is excellent protection against mites and other external parasites, and the ingestion of sand is good for the digestive system. This will improve cohabitation by making the quail less aggressive. It is a good idea to add a small sand bath (about 30 cm x 35 cm). Feeding time always causes a lot of pushing and shoving. Equipment for raising quail chicks can be used such as in 4.3.Īrrange individual access to the feeders and water to prevent the birds from hurting themselves. The feeders and drink troughs can be placed inside the cage, or attached to the outside for added cleanliness and to save space. However, to ensure rearing that is suitable for the species it would be best for this space to house no more than 20 adults. Alternatively, they can house up to 40 laying quail or 80 for brooding for up to 4 weeks. If the male is too active, it can be separated from the females by dividing the cage with removable planks that can be withdrawn from time to time. The 1 m x 0.5 m x 0.5 m cages can accommodate a group of breeders consisting of one male and five females. For cages 2 m long, plan movable parts that can be separated into two compartments so that they can be used for smaller groups of breeders if necessary. The second option allows the quail to run. Later, the mesh wire should have spaces of no more than 7 mm until the birds are fully grown, when 1.5 cm mesh can be used.Ĭages can be built to the following measurements: 1 m long x 0.5 m wide x 0.5 m high, or 2 m x 0.5 m x 0.5 m. For egg laying and breeding it is recommended to provide a space of 1 sq. For quail chicks, it is necessary to cover the 7 mm wire mesh with paper for the first week at least, as their feet are too small and they could seriously hurt themselves. The floor must be horizontal to fatten up of the birds, but with a slight 5° slope for laying hens, to make it easier to collect the eggs. The bottom of the cage can be made of wood and covered with 5 cm of wood shavings, or 1.5 cm wire mesh. A chicken wire cage is easier to clean and disinfect. It will be difficult to maintain a good level of hygiene needed to avoid disease. It must be remembered that quail produce large quantities of excrement that will impregnate the wood. If wood is used, it is better to attach the planks so that they can be replaced individually if they are damaged or deteriorate. The cages can be made of white wood and chicken wire or chicken wire alone. Hatching Time Offers a Wide Range of Layered Quail Cages that are Great for. The cages must be well ventilated and installed in buildings protecting the quail from sun, rain and wind. Stackable, Power-Washable Quail Coop with Smart Feed-Loss Feeders. It is therefore better to leave some room between the cages to ensure better air circulation, and not to have more than three floors. However, this method is not recommended as it does not allow the cage to be properly aired and causes the birds to be stressed. The cages are often made with several floors. Buy a sturdy cage cheaply and enjoy peace of mind knowing it will last.Cage rearing is often chosen in urban or periurban areas, as it requires little space. Collect eggs to sell later and keep each quail happy and healthy with ease. Get a quail cage on and keep many quails together at one time to save space in a room. Large operations and small home farming businesses will both benefit from these enclosures. Each cage can hold hundreds of birds at one time. Galvanized materials help the quail laying cages to resist corrosion and will last a long time. Reduce the need to shop for new birds frequently by helping the existing ones reproduce. Drinking systems and feeding troughs will be built in to make caring for the birds more convenient.īuy quail breeding cages on and keep a stable population with male and female quails. Most have strong steel frames, but some commercial quail cages feature plastic that is just as durable. Make efficient use of space and fit multiple cages in a room to increase production. Make a farm with egg-laying birds more efficient and cheaper to run.Ī quail cage often features multiple tiers with a large amount of space inside for large groups. Find a sturdy design that can hold up to long-lasting use without trouble. Buy quail breeding cages and start collecting eggs to package for a market or store. Each one allows the bird to sit and sleep comfortably with others in large quantities. About products and suppliers: Protect small fowl on a farm with a quail cage from. There are lots of places out there to learn the basics of Houdini. WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BEST PLACES TO LEARN HOUDINI? But very few things worth learning are easy, right? I think the rewards are worth the effort once you understand the way Houdini works. As a result, Houdini has a famously steep learning curve. Houdini is an extremely technical program that really requires patience and determination to learn which can be daunting to a lot of people. The community that has developed around the tool is truly incredible and between courses like Cinema 4D Basecamp from EJ Hassenfratz and Maxon’s continuous live-streaming and Cineversity program, there is a seemingly endless supply of Cinema 4D education. However, compared to most 3D applications out there, Cinema 4D is one of the most intuitive options for those looking to learn 3D for the first time. Knowing C4D gives you a creative superpower that will equip you to get into 3D and stand out from the crowd, especially as more and more people are learning (and mastering) After Effects. An artist with proficient knowledge of Cinema 4D and After Effects could definitely get a job as a 3D artist at a MoGraph studio. C4D is ubiquitous in the Motion Design industry and used by designers and animators alike. When people say they are a 3D MoGraph artist, it’s usually safe to say they use Cinema 4D. TYPES OF MOGRAPH JOBS FOR CINEMA 4D ARTISTS These are just a sample of what can be done with C4D, and there are a plethora of incredible projects out there featuring VFX work, Modeling, Concept Art, Environment Rendering, and more. These are all statistics, and unfortunately during the year, there are nights were we believe we should cancel the tour, and half an hour later the weather clears, or some other times where we don't cancel and during the tour, clouds come in. During the year we normally have one or two cloudy nights per months, except in January February where we can have anywhere from one week (which was the case in 2010) to three weeks covered by clouds (which was the case in 2011). What is hard to see in a 30cm telescope becomes quite visible, some stars show very vivid colors, and some nebulae start to be visible in color (normally, at night, we see in black and white). We have also 60cm, 45cm and other smaller telescopes. Our 72cm telescope is currently the largest touristic telescope in South America (waiting for our 1m15 telescope which will be really another story). These telescopes are correctly maintained, and we use only high quality eyepieces to provide clear, sharp wide angle views. We have the largest park of telescopes of any public observatory in south America (between 20 and 72cm diameter), correctly aligned to always provide the best possible view, in order to let you discover some of the incredible views the sky has to offer. Everybody has seen images of Saturn, but the first time you really see the planet with your own eyes through a telescope becomes a moment to remember. After lobbying in the 1960s and 70s for such a system to be built, Spitzer's vision ultimately materialized into the world's first space-based optical telescope, Hubble Space Telescope, which was launched on Apby the Space Shuttle Discovery (STS-31).While you can find a lot of astronomical photographs on the web, there is nothing like the experience of visual observing. Spitzer's proposal called for a large telescope that would not be hindered by Earth's atmosphere. In 1946, American theoretical astrophysicist Lyman Spitzer was the first to conceive the idea of a telescope in outer space, a decade before the Soviet Union launched the first satellite, Sputnik. Satellites have been launched and operated by NASA, ESA, Japanese Space Agency and the Soviet space program later succeeded by Roskosmos of Russia. Many space observatories have already completed their missions, while others continue operating, and still others are planned for the future. Space observatories can generally be divided into two classes: missions which map the entire sky (surveys), and observatories which make observations of chosen parts of the sky. Infrared and ultraviolet are also greatly blocked. For example, X-ray astronomy is nearly impossible when done from the Earth, and has reached its current importance in astronomy only due to orbiting X-ray telescopes such as the Chandra observatory and the XMM-Newton observatory. Space-based astronomy is even more important for frequency ranges which are outside of the optical window and the radio window, the only two wavelength ranges of the electromagnetic spectrum that are not severely attenuated by the atmosphere. A telescope orbiting the Earth outside the atmosphere is subject neither to twinkling nor to light pollution from artificial light sources on the Earth. Some terrestrial telescopes (such as the Very Large Telescope) can reduce atmospheric effects with adaptive optics. Performing astronomy from the Earth's surface is limited by the filtering and distortion of electromagnetic radiation ( scintillation or twinkling) due to the atmosphere. A large number of observatories have been launched into orbit, and most of them have greatly enhanced our knowledge of the extraterrestrial universe.
